Local family loses all after fire on Old Hinton Road

A Princeton family is homeless after fire destroyed their home Early Saturday morning.
The Princeton Fire Department responded shortly after midnight Friday night to a home on Old Hinton Road, where a house was on fire. The blaze destroyed the home, which was owned by Alfred Hinton.
Jerry Brown, his wife Bessy, and their five children, aged 11 to five, were unhurt.
Fire chief Ken Starling said the blaze likely started from an overloaded drop cord in the front bedroom.
Malcolm Hinton is spearheading a relief effort for the family, which lost everything in the fire. The family is in need of household goods, furniture, towels, clothing and everything else a family uses. Currently, the Browns are staying in Smithfield with family.
Anyone wishing to donate to the Browns should contact Malcolm Hinton at 919-936-2466.
