WALTER G. ROWE

Walter G. “Bill” Rowe, 79, of Spencer died Tuesday, April 10, at his home.

Born Oct. 3, 1927, in Princeton, he was a son of the late William G. and Eunice Baker Rowe. A graduate of Princeton High School, Mr. Rowe served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 till 1946 and the U.S. Army from 1950 till 1952. He was a conductor for Southern Railroad for more than 37 years. Mr. Rowe was a member of the United Transportation Union, the American Legion and Grace United Methodist Church, where he was one of the original Church Angels.

A graveside service was held Friday morning in Rowan Memorial Park. The Rev. Eugene E. Dean officiated.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred D. Rowe; two daughters, Tina Grubb and Dawn Fox; a brother, Leon Edward “Tom” Rowe of Yorktown, Va.; three sisters, Kathleen Bedford of Yorktown, Va., Patricia Ann Martin of Princeton and Helen Scarse of Belhaven; and four grandchildren.

TIMOTHY R. JACKSON

Timothy "Tim" Ralph Jackson, 49, of Pikeville died Sunday, April 15.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. at Whitley Church in Princeton. Reverend Ferrell Hardison and Reverend Andy Stovall officiated. Interment followed at Pittman Family Cemetery in Fremont.

Tim was born in Wayne County on April 2, 1958 to Ralph and Lois Bass Jackson of Eureka. He was a member of Whitley Church. He was a founding member of the Charles B. Aycock Alumni Singers where he served as past president and manager. Tim was also a founding member of Grace Way Quartet, a southern gospel group from Pikeville and member of the East Coast Gospel Music Association. He was a member of the Brogden Grange where he served as Program Director. Tim was an avid farmer and co-owner and operator of Nahunta Fresh Strawberries & Vegetables.

In addition to his parents, Tim is survived by his wife, Peggy Pittman Jackson; two sons, Timothy Barnes and his wife, Melanie, of California and Timothy Charles Jackson and his wife, Sarah, of Pikeville; two daughters, Karen Lee and her husband, Vaden, of Fremont and Dana Sawrey and her husband, Willie, of Goldsboro; one brother, Keith Jackson and his wife, Nina, of Goldsboro; two sisters, Judith Jackson and her husband, Gerald, of Wilson and Yvonne Jackson Sauls and her husband, Richard, of Eureka; and six grandchildren, Skyler Barnes, Tyler Barnes, Will Sawrey, Nicholas Sawrey, Ethan Sawrey and Bryant Lee.

CHARLES W. TODD

Charles Wayne Todd, 70, of Dudley, died Monday, April 16 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born in Columbus Co., he was the son of the late L.D. and Eva Faircloth Todd. He was retired from AP Parts. A lifetime member of the American Legion Post 11, he served as Post Adjutant for four years, and was active in the American Legion Baseball Program and the American Legion 40-8 for ten years. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA.

Memorial services will be held Monday, April 23 at Brogden UMC at 7 p.m. The Rev. Charlie Ward and Pastor Al Sullivan will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m.

Mr. Todd is survived by his wife, Janice S. Todd; four stepsons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Ann Sullivan of Goldsboro, Rev. Wade (Al) and Dominique Sullivan of Dudley, Gary and Denise Sullivan of Beautancus, and Randy and Lisa Sullivan of Rosewood; a "special daughter," Cathy Pennington of Grantham; two sisters, Janice Wilkerson of Fremont and Faye Roberts of Lumberton; eight grandchildren, Christy, Dan, Wade, Andy, Chad, Kimberly, Kyle, and Steve; and seven great-grandchildren.
