Southern Women’s Show in Raleigh this weekend

Women looking for help from the experts on healthy eating, physical activity and women’s health issues will want to visit North Carolina Cooperative Extension’s Successful Family Learning Center at the Southern Women’s Show, April 27 through April 29, at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.

Cooperative Extension will showcase Extension’s Successful Family newsletter and “Families Eating Smart, Moving More,” a statewide program highlighting nutrition and physical activity.  In addition, Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agents will deliver presentations on the cooking stage each day.  “Quick, Healthy, Easy Meals” will be presented by Cooperative Extension at 1:30 p.m. on April 27 and at 12:30 p.m. on April 28 and 29. Presenters will provide tips on how to prepare heart-healthy meals using an electric wok, one of the prizes being given away in Extension’s Successful Family Learning Center.

Visitors to the Learning Center will have the chance to use the interactive CD focusing on Fast Food and Families, as well as the chance to spin a prize wheel to win a free CD, healthy snack or one of many other items to help families eat smart. The CD contains a virtual food court where users can learn about the nutritional content of six fast food restaurants.  Stop by and pick up a free copy of the award-winning Extension’s Successful Family newsletter and the new Healthy Eating Guide.

Show hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
