Vandals cause $8K in damages at PHS over weekend

By Sarah A. Wise
NL Staff Writer

3 May 2007 - A pair of vandals attacked the Princeton School campus early Sunday morning, leaving behind an estimated $8,000 worth of damages.

Princeton Police Chief Eddie Lewis said that around 1:00 Sunday morning, two males between the ages of 15 and 18 vandalized an array of items on the school grounds. 13 buses had the headlights, windows, and interior panels painted. The dugouts on the baseball field were painted with profanity. A glass door on the agricultural building and a pickup truck owned by the school system were also painted, while the top to a greenhouse was torn.

Despite the widespread damage, Chief Lewis offers an assurance to the school – the vandals were caught on tape, which means that identifying the suspects is virtually guaranteed.

He said the tape is being converted to a disc, where it will be sent to a lab in Cary and enhanced. In a few days, the department will receive an 8-by-10 enhancement of the vandal’s faces, which will be distributed around the area.

“They will be caught,” Chief Lewis said.
