L. Dogs hold on to advance, 5-4
24 May 2007 — The Princeton softball team was battling a tough streak of games last Tuesday when Dixon came to the Lady Bulldog diamond to open the softball playoffs. PHS held on to advance, 5-4.
Princeton had lost three of their four previous games, each by a single run, and their only win was a 1-0 triumph.
Princeton strung together some hits in the fourth as the offense pushed four runs across the plate. Haylee Wood led off with a hit. Hannah Wood followed with a walk.
Rebecca Harlan singled to load up the sacks. Tylan George singled home two runs. Amber Wood got another run home on a single. PHS was ahead comfortably.
Amber Wood held the Dixon Lady Bulldogs scoreless through the first five innings. In the sixth the Princeton girls struggled in the field and three errors helped Dixon get three runs home.
In the bottom of the sixth, Sarah Eonta reached on a single. Brittany Baker brought her home with a double to give Princeton a two run cushion.
Dixon got a run home in the top of the seventh, and had the potential tying run on, but Amber Wood held on and got the final Dixon batter on a ground out back to the pitcher.
Baker led the Princeton batters with three hits. Haylee Wood had two hits.
