Johnston begins eRecording
Under the leadership of Craig Olive, Johnston County Register of Deeds, Johnston County officially began electronically recording (eRecording) land record documents such as deeds, mortgages, and reconveyances submitted by title companies, abstractors, banks, and attorneys. The process began last month.
eRecording is the process of submitting, receiving, and processing documents for recording via the Internet that have traditionally been sent to the county for recording by runner, express mail, or courier service. eRecording promises to simplify and accelerate all aspects of the recording process, dramatically improving the county’s ability to serve its constituents. In order to enable eRecording, Johnston County Register of Deeds commissioned Simplifile to integrate with its land record systems vendor, Aptitude Solutions. As a result, recorded documents can now be seamlessly indexed, archived, and made available to the public.
