
Woodard and Howard united in Clayton ceremony
Shelly Amber Woodard and Andrew Lane Howard were married June 16, 2007, at The Wagner in Clayton. Pastor John Howard, cousin of the groom, performed the 5 p.m. double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Terry and Tammy Woodard of Princeton and the granddaughter of Mrs. Rayonell Rose and the late Thomas Hinton and Mr. James Woodard and the late Mrs. Teresa Woodard, all of Princeton. The bride is a 2005 summa cum laude graduate of East Carolina University. She is currently employed with the Pitt County School System as an elementary school teacher.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Howard of Washington, NC. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lane of Washington and the late Reverend and Mrs. Odell Howard of Greenville. The groom is a 2006 graduate of East Carolina University. He is employed with Tom Howard and Associates of Washington, NC.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white matte satin strapless A-line gown. The bodice was embellished with appliqués of beaded champagne lace. The satin material was draped on the left side and had a repetition of beaded appliqués that followed the stitching down the side to the hemline. Champagne lace adorned the back of the gown and formed a V where it met the chapel-length train.
The bride’s two-tiered fingertip-length veil featured Swarovski crystal beads and petite pearls. A silver tiara of rhinestones completed the ensemble. The bride carried a bouquet of hand-tied calla lilies with miniature pink roses.
Mrs. Nikki Capps of Selma was her cousin’s matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Ms. Casey Jones of Wilson’s Mills, Ms. Meredith Hillgrove, Ms. Cindy Parrish, and Ms. Jennifer Hinton, cousins of the bride, all of Greenville. The flower girl was Joanna Lowery of Toccoa, Georgia, cousin of the groom.
Thomas Howard was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Joel Howard, brother of the groom, and Brian Jones, both of Greenville, Brandon Woodard, and Matthew Woodard of Greensboro, brothers of the bride. Ushers were Tyler Johnson of Washington and Justin Smith of Poughkeepsie, NY. The ring bearer was Grant Capps of Selma, cousin of the bride.
Debbie Littleton of Selma and Darlene Moore of Lugoff, SC, aunts of the bride, attended the register. Kimberly Hinton of Princeton, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Christy Malham of Princeton served the wedding cake. Cameron Moore, cousin of the bride, was program attendant. Mackenzie Malham, cousin of the bride, passed out the going-away sparklers.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Wagner.
The groom’s parents hosted an oyster roast and pig pickin’ engagement party. Mrs. Christy Malham, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Debbie Littleton, aunt of the bride, hosted a bridal shower. A lingerie shower was given by the matron of honor and friends. Mrs. Rayonell Rose, grandmother of the bride, and Mrs. Kimberly Hinton, aunt of the bride, hosted a scrapbooking recipe card shower. Coworkers of the bride sponsored a miscellaneous shower. A bridesmaid’s luncheon was given by aunts of the bride at The Tea Room in Goldsboro. The groom’s parents hosted a tropical-themed rehearsal dinner at The Wagner.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Howard spent their week-long honeymoon in St. Lucia. They reside in Washington, NC.
