Red Cross needs your help

The current blood supply has dropped to critically low levels throughout the Southeast, and all blood types, especially O and B, are needed.

The Smithfield Red Cross will hold a drive on July 29 from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

News Leader holiday schedule

Next week’s News Leader will be produced on a special holiday schedule. With the 4th of July falling on Wednesday, and with no newspaper delivery on that day, next week’s News Leader will be published and distributed early.

The paper will be printed Monday, and we hope to distribute to area post offices in time for most local subscriptions to be delivered Tuesday. Some subscribers may not receive their papers until Thursday.

We ask for news and advertising submissions by Friday, as we will not be able to accommodate last minute requests.

Our office will be closed on Wednesday. We will re-open on Thursday and be on a normal production schedule for the following week’s paper.
