MELVIN E. BARFIELD
Melvin Edward “Tex” Barfield, 70, of Seven Springs, died Sunday, June 24 at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Tex was born on July 31, 1936 in Lenoir County to the late Edgar Marvin Barfield and Essie Morgan Barfield. He worked as a painter for the County of Wayne and retired from the State of North Carolina. After retirement, he was a self-employed painter. Tex was a member of Brogden Chapel P.F.W.B. Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Dorman, the Rev. Randall Barfield and the Rev. Warren Barfield officiating. Burial followed in Wayne Memorial Park.
Tex is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Darden Barfield; his children, Dusty Barfield of the home, Chalady Barfield of the home, Kathy Radcliff of Rosewood and Vickie McLamb of Garner; his grandchildren, Zoe Barfield, Lindsey Waters and Logan Waters; his brothers, Marvin Barfield, of Goldsboro, Eddie Lee Barfield of Parkton, Randall Barfield of Goldsboro, Warren “Sam” Barfield of Autryville and Timmy Barfield of Snow Hill; and his sisters, Lucille Camacho, Mary Dixon and Judy Overbee, all of Goldsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Mae Barfield; his son, Ken Barfield; and his sisters, Effie Heath, Josie Gibbs, Glennie Wiggins and Joan Hill.

CHRISTINE W. BAREFOOT
Christine Wade Barefoot, 80, of Dunn died Thursday, June 28, at WakeMed in Raleigh.
The Sampson County native was a daughter of the late Julius Caesar and Pauline Phillips Wade. She was the widow of Leonard “Big” Barefoot.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, June 30, at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home, Dunn. Burial followed in Devotional Gardens.
Surviving are a son, Wade Barefoot of Princeton; three daughters, Frances Jackson of Clayton, Janice King of Raleigh and Margaret Ann Hawley of Maryland; two brothers, David Wade of Benson and Jerry Wade of Spring, Va.; and five grandchildren.

RUDY L. PITTMAN
Rudy Lee Pittman, 60, former owner and operator of the Rudy Pittman Motor Company, died Sunday afternoon, June 24, at the Fayetteville VA Hospital.
Born August 1, 1946 in Johnston County to the late Edward Lee Pittman, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eddy Pittman. Rudy was a US Air Force veteran and was a member of the Pine Level VFW and the Smithfield Moose Lodge.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning, June 27, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Ronnie Edwards and the Rev. Kenneth Thompson officiating. Burial with military honors followed in the Creech Cemetery on Creech’s Mill Road.
Surviving are his daughter, Dena Lee of Raleigh, mother, Faye Batten Hohl of Pine Level and two brothers, Tony Pittman and Steve Pittman both of Pine Level.
