Overturned truck on US 70
A combination of wet roadways and speed proved dangerous for at least one driver on U.S. Highway 70 on Friday. Melissa Lyn Scheid, 31, of Stella, NC was heading east on the highway when she ran off the roadway near Whitley Church Road. The vehicle struck a road sign, struck a ditch, hit a mailbox, and overturned. Ms. Scheid and her three passengers, Cianne Taylor, 14, Joshua Taylor, 10, Gabbi Jeltema, 6, and Ayden Evans, 2, were all transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital, and the vehicle sustained $15,000 worth of damages.
