Final count for November local elections

20 July 2007 — A filing Thursday and a final one Friday morning made it six candidates for the two seats on the Princeton Town Board.

Lisa Floors Brown filed Thursday and David Holt filed Friday. Mrs. Brown was a surprisingly strong late write-in candidate for commissioner two years ago, and Mr. Holt is a former mayor and town commissioner.

They will contest incumbents Eddie Haddock and Walter Martin, along with two other challengers: Gregory Collins and Brandon Holland.

The election is November 6.

Princeton's skyline changes

19 July 2007 — The Princeton area skyline changed Thursday morning when the tower at the old Gurley Mill finally came down. Work on the mill began several months ago, and in recent days as workmen prepared to take down the tower, the structure had begun to lean precariously. By noon the top of the tower lay at a heap in front of the base of the building. (NL Photo by Merrill)

New challengers for Princeton board

Two challengers filed for seats on the Princeton Town Board last week.

Gregory Collins and Brandon Holland both asked that their names be placed on the ballot for the two board seats that will be decided November 6. Current board members Eddie Haddock and Walter Martin both filed earlier for re-election. The official filing period will end Friday at noon.

Filing must be done at the Board of Elections next to the courthouse in Smithfield.

As of Monday, Don Rains is unopposed for re-election as mayor.
