deaths & funerals18 July 2007 LESSIE M. ALLEN Lessie Mae Allen, 86, of Four Oaks, died Monday, July 9. She was a daughter of the late Charlie N. and Eliza Dunn Rhodes. The funeral was held Wednesday morning, July 11, at Lee’s Chapel Advent Christian Church. The Rev. Rodney Brittain officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Surviving are her husband, Gurtha R. Allen; a daughter, Margaret Ann Allen of Four Oaks; a son, Haywood Allen of Pine Level; a sister, Laura Faye Barefoot of Dunn; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 12 great-stepgrandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to Lee’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, in care of Catherine Baker, 458 Long Branch Road, Smithfield, N.C. 27577.
