NC Seafood Festival seeks poster entries

1 August 2007 — The North Carolina Seafood Festival has revised the entry procedure for artists wishing to have their work considered for the Official 2008, 22nd year, Festival Commemorative Poster.

Request that artists submit an 11” X 14” sketch of their intended piece along with a portfolio. Please include a bio mentioning recent awards, shows that you have participated in and other details you feel important. This is an open call to all North Carolina residents. A selection committee will review submissions. All entries must be submitted between October 10 - October 22, 2007. The deadline is October 22 at 4 p.m. Please label all artwork with name and address and phone number. If you want your material returned by mail, please include a return postage paid envelope or appropriate mailing package.

The selected artist will be notified the first week of November and be required to deliver a 22 X 28 painting to the North Carolina Seafood Festival office mid January 2008. The work must be kept from public viewing. A monetary payment for the rights will be made to the selected artist and statewide publicity will begin in April 2008 at the Official Poster Unveiling. In addition, the artist receives complimentary tickets to Festival Events and activities throughout the year and a complimentary Vendor Space at the 22nd Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival. The artwork is continually on display throughout the year until it is presented to the Town of Morehead City at the Opening Ceremonies. Then it is on permanent display in the Town Council Meeting Room.

Interested artists should send artwork and background information to: The North Carolina Seafood Festival, Official Poster Selection Committee, PO Box 1812, Morehead City, NC 28557 or drop them by the NCSF Headquarters at 907-B Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC.

Reminder: Entries will be received after the 2007 festival from October 10-22, 2007. For additional information, please call the office at (252) 726-6273 or visit the web site at www.ncseafoodfestival.org.
