JAMES A. ALLEN JR.
James Alvin Allen Jr., 78, of Micro, died Wednesday, July 25.
Born October 8, 1929 in Johnston County, he was the son of the late James Alvin and Pearl Allen.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, July 29, at Parrish Funeral Home, Selma. Burial followed in the Richardson Cemetery in Wilson’s Mills.
Surviving are a son, Virgil Allen of Interlochen, Michigan; four daughters, Vickie Johnson and Valerie Nicole Renfrow, both of Micro, Natasha Allen of Pine Level, and Natalie McLamb of the Cleveland community; a sister, Edna Allen, of the North Carolina mountains; and ten grandchildren.

DOROTHY H. MCCULLEN
Dorothy Hare McCullen, 82, died Sunday evening, July 29, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy was born in Wayne County on November 5, 1924 to the late Richard Lee Hare and Mattie Williams Hare. She was married to the late Liskar McCullen. Dorothy was a retired nursing assistant with Guardian Care Nursing Home. She was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 31 at 2 p.m. at Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Danny Eugene McCullen and wife, Sheila, of Goldsboro; her brother, Charles Hare of Princeton; her sisters, Mary H. Britt of Mount Olive, Ruby H. Pate of Goldsboro, Clara Lee Nord of Grantham and Evelyn H. Fail of Goldsboro; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Hare, Marvin Hare, Richard Junior Hare, and George Hare.

CATHERINE S. CROSS
Catherine Strickland “Cathy” Cross, 62, of Selma, died Friday, June 27 at her home.
Born June 10, 1945 in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late J.C. and Thelma Daughtry Strickland.
A graveside service was held Monday morning, July 30, in the Hatcher family cemetery near Selma.
Surviving are her husband, Wayne Cross; a daughter, Paige Wade of Farmville; a brother, Tim Strickland of Pine Level; a sister, Cecilia Karway of St. Augustine, Fl.’ and a granddaughter.
