Teacher slots still open

1 August 2007 — With the school year set to start up in a few short weeks, local schools are still working to find the best teachers for their students.

At Rosewood High School, the position for a lead JROTC instructor is still open. Principal David Lewis said that, though he has filled several other certified positions, he is still looking for the right candidate for that slot. The position became open late in the summer, and Mr. Lewis is still conducting interviews.

He has hired two others to fill open slots on the certified staff. As the staff returns on August 20, a new Spanish teacher and a new part-time counselor will join the ranks.

In addition, Mr. Lewis said the school will also have at least three, possibly four new teaching assistants.

“That’s where I’ve really been busy this summer,” he said. “We don’t have a lot of turnover in our certified positions, but we are hiring several new teaching assistants.”

He has made recommendations for several of the positions, but hasn’t received the official word to announce who will fill the positions.

At Rosewood Middle, all the available teaching slots have been filled. The faculty will feature three new faces this school year.

A new computer teacher has been hired in the business department, and another teacher has joined the staff to teach home economics. In addition, the school has hired a new eighth grade math teacher.
