Byrd, Thompson wed at Lane Tree

29 August 2007 — Stacey Marie Thompson and Christopher David Byrd exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony August 5 at 4 p.m. at Lane Tree Golf Club, with the Rev. Terry Dennis officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thompson of Princeton and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Etheridge of Goldsboro and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Thompson of Princeton.
She is a 2002 graduate of Princeton High School and a 2005 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in English. Earlier this year, she earned a Master’s degree in Library Science from ECU. In the fall, she will enter the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The groom is the son of Angie Shelly and Gerald Byrd of Augusta, Ga. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. David Byrd of Selma and Mary Stanley and the late Refus Stanley of Smithfield.
He is a 2002 graduate of Smithfield-Selma High School and a 2006 graduate of East Carolina University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Distribution and Logistics. He is employed with Eagle Transport of Greensboro.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a strapless white wedding gown with a beaded bodice and chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a crystal and pearl tiara.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of lavender and pink roses.
Lisa Thompson of Raleigh was her sister’s maid of honor. Ashley Pittman of Knightdale was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Marie Stanley, cousin of the groom; and Susan Snead of Rocky Mount, Amy Proseus of Greenville, Kristy Kennedy of Thomasville, and Brandi Carney of Sharpsburg, friends of the bride.
Gerald Byrd was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Josh Thompson of Raleigh, brother of the bride; Matt Cecil of Greenville, Nick Pittman of Knightdale, Nick Carney of Sharpsburg, Blake Davis of Selma, and Seth Horton of Greenville, friends of the groom.
Jessica Hoyle directed the wedding. Debbie Yelverton presided at the register and distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Rick Thornton and Matt Gillette was vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner and dance reception.
After a wedding trip to Emerald Isle, the couple will reside in Greenville.
A bridal tea was hosted by Nancy Etheridge and Melba Walker on August 4. The groom’s parents and grandparents held a rehearsal dinner on August 3 at Lane Tree Golf Club. A bachelor’s party was hosted by the groomsmen on August 3. A bachelorette weekend at Badin Lake was hosted by Kristy Kennedy on July 20. A floating shower was hosted by aunts of the groom at Branch Chapel Church on June 9. A miscellaneous bridal shower was hosted by aunts and cousins of the bride on June 3.
