8 August 2007 — Site preparations are in full swing at the new Princeton Elementary School site.
Public meeting on Land Transfer Tax
The Johnston County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a special meeting to consider a possible county advisory referendum for the purpose of determining citizen input on either a land transfer tax on all real property sales in Johnston County, or a one-quarter cent county sales and use tax in Johnston County. The meeting will take place in the Commissioners' Meeting Room, Johnston County Courthouse Annex, Smithfield, on Tuesday, August 14 at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Water service interruption planned
The Town of Princeton will be turning off some water service to fix a leaking fire hydrant on Pine St. in the next week. The town will turn off service between 10 p.m. and midnight on one or more nights, possibly as early as this Thursday night, or next Monday through Thursday nights. They will not stop service on Friday through Sunday.

A Princeton woman was arrested early Saturday morning for resisting arrest.
Princeton Police was called to the home of Keith Everett on John St. He asked that officers remove his niece, Malika Everett, 20, after she started cussing at his nieces.
When an officer arrived, Mrs. Everett would not cooperate with the officer. She was arrested for non-compliance with an officer in the completion of his duties. Bond was set at $2,500.
Kristen Ashley Norris, 19, of Bug Shop Rd., was cited for driving 51 in a 35 MPH zone on Holt’s Pond Rd. near New Ballpark Rd. Sunday at 6:34 p.m.
Connie Thornton Mitchell, Old Rock Quarry Rd., Princeton, reported to Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies on August 4 at 8:55 p.m. her mailbox and post had been stolen.
Back to School celebration
Princeton Baptist Church is sponsoring a Princeton Community Back to School Celebration on Sunday, August 19. The event will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at Sugg Field on New Ballpark Road in Princeton. Activities will include a Dunking Booth (with Principal Kirk Denning), Inflatables, Face Painting, Fall Festival Games, Entertainment by the R.O.P.E.S. Drama Team and Puppets. Hot dogs and drinks will be served. During the Celebration there will be drawings for door prizes and you must be present to win. The grand door prize is a family booster pass to Princeton Athletic Events. Everything is free, so come celebrate!
Support PHS Band by becoming a Bulldog Backer
The Princeton Bulldog Band Backers are now accepting donations to help support the fall program. Businesses and individuals are welcome to support the Princeton High School Band. Sponsors who donate $25 or more will have their names listed on the 2008 Princeton High School Marching Band shirt; $50 or more will put the donor’s name on one side of the Princeton High School Band Equipment Trailer. Donations of $100 will put the donor’s name on both sides of the trailer.
