JCC offers free computer course

5 September 2007 — The Department of Business and Industry, Continuing Education Division at Johnston Community College is offering Computer Skills for the Job Search classes for job seekers who are interested in learning basic computer skills to use in job searching. The course is designed to: 1) introduce computers and computer terms; 2) develop a moderate comfort level of basic computer-use skills to prepare employment-related documents; 3) introduce the internet; and 4) develop email capabilities focusing on the use of the computer to search for employment. This course will have hands-on instruction with a class size of 10.  This class is offered on a variety of schedules with evening, morning, and full-day formats.

 

Option 1 will be offered September 4 – October 23, on Tuesdays, from 6-9 p.m.

Option 2 will be offered on September 11 and 12, Tuesday and Wednesday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Option 3 will be offered October 22-25, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Option 4 will be offered November 26-29, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Option 5 will be offered December 4-5, Tuesday-Wednesday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

 

This course is FREE for individuals who meet the following criteria:

unemployed;

received notice of pending layoff;

working and eligible for Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (FEIT); or

working and earn wages at or below two hundred percent (200%) of the federal poverty guidelines.

 

If you are not eligible for the tuition waiver described above, the registration fee is $55.00.  There is no book fee.
