Despite 26-6 loss at Dixon, Bulldogs have reason for hope
5 September 2007 — After another shaky start, punctuated with turnovers, Princeton played Dixon fairly even for much of the game Friday night. Still, it went down as a 26-6 loss as the Bulldogs remained winless.

The host Dixon Bulldogs opened the game with a 14 play scoring drive. The Princeton Bulldogs fumbled on their second offensive play, leading to another Dixon score. When they got the ball a final time in the quarter, they fumbled again, and that fumble was picked up and returned 18-yards for the third Dixon touchdown of the quarter.
Sophomore Dillon Daughtry scored the first Princeton touchdown of the season late in the second quarter on an 18-yard pass from sophomore Dylan Myers. The point after failed.
Coach Russell Williamson praised Daughtry as one of the truly bright spots in the loss, catching five passes for 58 yards.
Another reason for hope was the running of Kwame Corprew. The junior gained 48 yards on three carries. Corprew is just now getting into the lineup after being sidelined with an injury, and just saw limited duty Friday. He should see more playing time this Friday.
Michael Radford had six rushes for 26 yards.
Princeton netted 135 yards on their running game, averaging almost six years an attempt, and had 11 first downs in the game. They added 58 yards passing on five completions.

Turnovers were the big difference, as the Princeton Bulldogs gave Dixon the ball seven times on the game.
“I don’t know if it’s just youth or bad exchanges,” Coach Williamson said Monday. “Whatever it is, we’ve got to work on it.”

Still, he has seen progress on both sides of the ball despite the lack of a win. He pointed to the turnovers as killers. “We’re not good enough to give them the ball in our territory and expect to win.”
Things aren’t looking to get any easier when Princeton returns home to host Midway. The Raiders are coming off a 50-0 whitewashing of Spring Creek.
Midway looks a bit like Princeton of old, with a box backfield, and direct snaps to running backs and putting a lot of blockers in front of the running back.
The Raiders are 2-0, while Princeton is 0-3.
