Pigskin Pickin's first week winner
5 September 2007 — The opening week of the News Leader Pigskin Pickin’ Contest proved too tough for any one to get them all right, but we did have a winner in the tie-breaker.
Six pickers got five of the six games right, with all six missing the South Florida upset of N.C. State. Denny Tart of Rosewood won the tickets with a 44-3 guess for the U. Conn win over Duke, just 12 off the actual 45-14 final score.
The other five getting five right were: Rick Rinehart, Chris Keen, Mike Peedin, Anne B. Anderson, and Melissa Rinehart.
Runner-up honors go to: Melvin E. Anderson, Eric Clayton, Wanda Daniels, Lewis Craig Partin, Julie Potts, Nathaniel L. Sanders Jr., and Melanie Thomas.
Honorable mentions go to: John Crafter, Louise Daughtry, Valerie Howell, Lorenzo Jackson, Larry J. Potts, and Durrell E. Ward.
Mr. Tart wins two tickets to the UNC at ECU game Saturday.
This week’s winner will get two tickets to the Southern Miss at ECU game next Saturday, Sept. 15.
