Lady Eagles earn one win in three-game week

5 September 2007 — A tough Rosewood volleyball squad went to four and five sets during three matches last week, but could only salvage one win.

On Tuesday they fell in four sets at Union, 25-20, 25-22, 18-25, and 25-21.

Rosewood Coach Jennifer Cochran cited Ashley Williams for eight kills while Caroline Tart added seven kills, and Jennifer Hall had 14 assists.

Wednesday they hosted always tough Midway, and the Lady Eagles forced a fifth set, but again came out on the losing end, 27-25, 18-25, 17-25, 25-23, and 15-13.

Taylor Johnson led the Rosewood girls with seven kills, one dig and four blocks. Paige Babb had nine assists, 1 kill, 2 digs, and one ace. Jennifer Hall had six assists, 3 digs and one kill.

Thursday the Lady Eagles were again at home, and again played five sets, but won the final two against Farmville Central to claim the win, 25-20, 24-26, 18-25, 25-18, and 15-13.

Johnson and Williams both had career highs in kills with 13 each to lead the Lady Eagles. Babb had 15 assists and Hall had 12 assists.

The split left Rosewood with a 2-2 record going into this week’s play. They opened with a match Tuesday at Farmville.
