DOROTHY S. CROCKER

Dorothy Southard Crocker, 84, of Pine Level, died Thursday evening, September 13, at her home. 

Born June 14, 1923 in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Annie Overbee Southard. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Loomis Alec Crocker, and a brother, Irvin Southard.  She was a member of the Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Donald Coates officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Crocker Cemetery.

Surviving are her daughter, Brenda G. Crocker of Pine Level, sons, Gordon Crocker and wife, Judy of Goldsboro, Steve Crocker and wife, Debra of Kenly and Tim Crocker and wife, Reneé of Pine Level, brother, Fate Southard and wife, Wilma of Lemoore, CA, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to the WilMed Hospice, 1705 South Tarboro Street, Wilson, NC 27893.

GEORGE ANDERS, JR.

George L. Anders, Jr., 64, of Selma, died Saturday, September 8 at his home.

Born November 27, 1942 in Nash County, Mr. Anders was a son of the late George Lee and Allene Broughton Crocker. He was a member of Parrish Memorial Baptist Church near Selma.

A graveside service was held Monday morning, September 10, in Selma Memorial Gardens. The Revs. Blake Stallings and Harold Medlin officiated.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Lee Anders; a son, G. Lee Anders III; three daughters, Marva Anders of Smithfield, Bridget Johnson of Pine Level, and Beverly Clifton of the home; his stepfather, Charles Crocker of Selma; and three grandchildren.

ROLAND L. BAREFOOT

Roland Lee Barefoot, 69, of Clayton, died Sunday, September 9 at his home.

Born July 30, 1938 in Johnston County, Mr. Barefoot was a son of Inez Johnson Barefoot and the late Eugene Barefoot. He retired from the N.C. Department of Corrections with the rank of sergeant.

The funeral was held Monday evening, September 10, at Minshew Funeral Home in Four Oaks. A private graveside service was held Tuesday, September 11.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Linda C. Barefoot; a daughter, Lorie Ann Dunn of Timmonsville, S.C.; a son, Roland "Lee" Barefoot Jr. of Pine Level; a sister, Brenda Lee of Four Oaks; and a brother, Donald Barefoot of Four Oaks.

ALICE N. BEST

Alice Thompson Neal Best, 97, of Goldsboro, died this morning (Wednesday) at Britthaven Nursing Home.

Mrs. Best was born in Johnston County on May 1, 1910 to the late William Jarman Thompson and Susan Martin Thompson.  She was married to the late Grover Cecil Neal and the late Dwight Moody Best.  She was a member of Oakland Friends Church.  Mrs. Best was retired from the State of North Carolina and later worked as a seamstress with The Ladies Shop in Goldsboro for over 20 years.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating.  Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Princeton Cemetery.

Mrs. Best is survived by her son, Donald Cecil Neal and wife, Gloria of Rosewood; her daughter, Erma Neal Thomas and husband, J.C. of Emerald Isle.  She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Cathy L. Thomas; Chris N. Thomas and wife, Wendy; Renee N. Parrish and husband, Ricky; Don C. Neal, Jr. and wife, Joann and Valerie N. Barlow and husband, Tim; and seven great-grandchildren, Cassie L. Thomas, Dillon C. Thomas, Steven N. Parrish and wife, Jennifer, Bliss N. Parrish, Olivia L. Neal, Brooke A. Neal and Savannah R. Barlow; one great-great-grandchild, Martin N. Parrish; five step-grandchildren and eleven step-great-grandchildren.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Oakland Community Church, 921 Oakland Church Road, Princeton, NC 27569.

The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Donald and Gloria Neal, 103 Sasser Drive, Goldsboro.

AMY M. MCCORMICK

Amy M. McCormick, 52, of Goldsboro, died Monday, September 3.

She was born and raised in North Java, N.Y., by her late father, William Campbell and her mother, Bernadine Campbell.

Amy has been a very active member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. She also donated a lot of her time to Rosewood community activities. For more than 25 years, she taught and cared for numerous children in her home.

Mrs. McCormick is survived by her husband of 31 years, Rick McCormick; her daughter, Nicole McCormick of Goldsboro; her daughter, Erica McCormick of Mount Olive; her son and daughter-in-law, 1st Lt. and Mrs. Ryan McCormick of Raeford and her daughter, Rachel McCormick of Goldsboro. She is also survived by many in her family, close friends and the lives of children she has touched.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Tom Norris, O.S.F.S. presiding.

The family will be walking in "Angels Among Us" for Brain Tumor Research in April of 2008. Therefore, the family will appreciate memorials to this cause in her memory. Please make checks payable to the Memorial Fund, 103 Shamrock Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
