JAMES P. BASS SR.

James Phillip Bass Sr., 62, of Goldsboro, died Saturday evening, September 15, at Wake Medical Center.

James was born in Durham County on August 14, 1945 to the late John Bass and Eula Mae Casey Bass. He was a retired truck driver from Stackhouse in Goldsboro.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, September 18, at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Princeton Cemetery.

James is survived by his wife, Margie Turner Bass; his children, Teresa Williamson and special friend, Robert Perry, of Goldsboro, Linda McCarty and husband, Tim, of Goldsboro, Connie Hough and husband, Larry, of Goldsboro, Steve Bass and wife, Machelle, of Goldsboro, James Phillip Bass Jr. and wife, Dawn, of Pikeville and Christie Parrish and husband, Daniel, of Princeton; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Eason of Selma, Rosa Kornegay of Pikeville and Sadie Edmundson of LaGrange; and his brother, John Bass and wife, Gertrude, of Asheville.

PAULINE H. JOHNSON

Pauline H. Johnson, 86, formerly of Selma, died Saturday, September 15 at WakeMed of Cary.

Born January 13, 1921 in Johnston County, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late D.N. and Zora Creech Holt. She was the widow of Willard B. Johnson, Jr. Mrs. Johnson lived her entire adult life in Selma before moving to Jordon Oaks Retirement Community in Cary to be closer to her children.

A graveside service was held Monday afternoon, September 17, at Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield.

She is survived by two daughters, Paula Ward of Cary and Willa Bea Coates of Willow Spring; a brother, W.K. "Bill" Holt of Pine Level; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

GILBERT M. MARTIN

Gilbert Michael “Gib” Martin, 17, of Princeton, died Tuesday afternoon, September 18, from injuries received in an automobile accident. 

Born September 13, 1990 in Wilson County, he was a son of Wesley G. and Connie A. Martin of Princeton.  Gib was a Princeton High School senior and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  He attended Harvest Fellowship Church in Goldsboro.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Pete Norris, the Rev. Glenn Mills and the Rev. Tommy Rowe officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his sister, Bethany Martin of the home, maternal grandparents, Thomas and Mary Brady of Princeton and Jerry Vandiver of Arizona, paternal grandparents Ann Rowe Martin of Princeton and the late Leslie Martin and paternal great grandfather, Leroy Manning and the late Mary Manning of Princeton.
