Pigskin Pickin' winner

19 September 2007 — The Pigskin Pickin’ Contest has a repeat winner, but only by the narrowest of margins.

With several upsets, particularly Duke’s win at Northwestern Saturday night, no one was able to pick all six games correctly. In fact, 4-2 was the best anyone could pick, and six pickers matched scorecards with four right, throwing the contest again to the tie-breaker.

Our first week winner, Denny Tart of Rosewood, again was atop the Pigskin Pickers with a prediction of 24-20, Virginia, just two off the actual 22-20 final. He nosed out Bill Carr and Valerie Howell, who both predicted 24-21 finals.

Others with four right were: Brad Van Gorden of Iowa, Tracie Hamilton-Alston and Rick Rinehart.

Runner-up honors go to: Anne B. Anderson, Melvin E. Anderson, Louise Daughtry, Lane Van Gordon, Jerry L. Griffin, Brent Gurganious, Luby Hines, Lorenzo Jackson, Chris Keen, Marcia McCullen, Brian Mitchell, Mike Peedin, Stephen Tart, Melanie Thomas and Velma Toler.

Honorable mentions go to: John Crafter, Laura Greene, Jeremy Jones, David Jordan, Renee Murray and Lewis Craig Partin.

Mr. Tart won two more ECU tickets, this time to see the Mighty Golden Knights of University of Central Florida come to East Carolina next month.

This week we are offering two more sets of tickets to this week’s winner.
