PHS senior dies in car accident26 September 2007 — A Princeton High School senior died in a single car wreck last Tuesday afternoon, and one of his friends riding in the car, was seriously injured.
Gilbert Michael “Gib” Martin, 17, died when the 1996 Ford Mustang he was driving left Red House Road, struck a culvert, flipped, and hit a tree. Joseph Anderson, 17, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car and suffered possible spinal cord injuries. Family members report that he was responding well to treatment last week. Excessive speed was blamed in the accident. He was estimated to be going 65 in a 55 zone. Martin was described as a good student, and had been elected senior class treasurer. Counselors and clergy met with students and staff Wednesday needing counseling. Anderson is a senior at Johnston Middle College High School.
