PHS girls take win over AG

26 September 2007 — The Princeton girls rebounded from a disappointing loss at North Johnston last Tuesday to top Ayden-Grifton in four games Thursday.

Thursday’s win gave Princeton a 3-1 record in conference volleyball play. The Lady Bulldogs stand at 6-6 in all matches.

Princeton took a hard fought 25-23 decision in the first game, and then dropped the second before taking relatively easy wins in the final two to win the match.

Ashley Braswell and Katie Sasser combined for 21 kills at the net to key the Princeton win. Amber Wood contributed 24 assists. Wood also had six service aces, and Devon Murphy had five.

Coach Trudi Rast also praised her team’s communication, serving, and court coverage in the win.

Tuesday at North Johnston, the Lady Bulldogs had a chance to put some distance over their cross-county rival, but the Lady Panthers seized the momentum on their home court. The Lady Panthers posted relatively easy wins in the first two games, Princeton took a narrow win in the third, but NJ cruised to an easy win in the fourth to take the match. That left the two teams tied atop the Carolina Conference standings.

Princeton had a non-conference match at Goldsboro Monday. Tuesday they are back into conference play at Rosewood, and Thursday at Spring Creek.
