Bulldogs trample Gators, 35-6
10 October 2007 — On those nights when things don’t seem to go right, Princeton can savor the memories of the first quarter last Friday at home when everything seemed to go right.

Princeton opened up a 21-0 lead in the first quarter against Spring Creek, and coasted to a 35-6 win.
On Princeton’s first play from scrimmage, quarterback Dylan Myers hit Dillon Daughtry for a 70-yard pass completion for a touchdown. Late in the first quarter, Kevin Foy broke loose for a 58-yard run for the third Princeton touchdown of the frame.

Princeton Coach Russell Williamson was complaining Monday about a drop off in the team’s play in the second quarter when Spring Creek rallied for their only score, but he was very pleased with their first quarter.
“We felt we were pretty evenly matched, but we came out ready to play, executed well, and hit a couple of big plays that we had been working on.”
He said that put the Gators in a hole and that changed their play.

Foy followed his 164 yards and two touchdowns against Mattamuskeet two weeks ago with an even better 229 yards rushing on 19 carries and a total of four touchdowns.
He scored on a five yard run in the first quarter, a five yard run in the third quarter, and broke a 54 yard run in the fourth quarter.

Princeton amassed 323 yards on the ground, with Kwame Corprew accounting for 48 of that.
Myers only threw two more times the rest of the game, and completed one of those for nine yards.

Coach Williamson praised the play of his offensive line. Matt Williamson did a good job, and Chris Hinton was put in and the coach was impressed with his play. He also talked about how they were able to run to the weak side some, behind the blocking of Randy Deaver, Will Gainey and Matt Stewart.
On defense he praised the play of his linebackers, John Posey and Chris Hill. Both had a great night.

He also noted that Luke Mitchell and Patrick Jacobs had interceptions, and felt his safeties had strong nights.
The Bulldogs will move up in the level of competition Friday night. After hosting winless Spring Creek, they travel to North Duplin to face the undefeated Rebels. ND is coming off a 21-6 win over North Johnston.
‘They’re very good,” Coach Williamson said Monday. “They’re senior-laden, talented, and strong. We’ll have to play the very best we can.”
The Bulldogs’ second straight win leaves them at 2-5 on the year.
