Pigskin results

03 October 2007 — Often most local pickers get the high school games right, but many didn’t foresee Princeton getting their first win of the year, or Rosewood losing to Jones Senior, and most didn’t figure East Carolina would topple Houston. There wasn’t much room at the top of the Pigskin Pickin’ Contest this week.

Only two pickers got all six games right: Dustin Pate and Velma Toler. But neither saw the really high scoring game when predicting the tie-breaker. Ms. Toler guessed the two teams would score an extra touchdown, 28-21 ECU versus 28-14 for Mr. Pate to get closer to the actual 37-35 final.

Two pickers got runner-up honors, finishing one pick back: Scott Mohiser and David Starling.

Honorable mentions go to: Brian Baker, Bill Carr, Luby Hines, Valerie Howell, Nathaniel L. Sanders Jr., Michael Strickland, Denny Tart, Melanie Thomas and Mike Woodard.

Ms. Toler won two tickets to the Central Florida at East Carolina game this Saturday.

This week we put two tickets to NC State’s game at East Carolina up for grabs. That game will be two weeks from this Saturday, Oct. 20, at 4:30 p.m.

You can’t win if you don’t enter.
