Local scams
Princeton Police Chief Eddie Lewis reports that some Princeton area residents are falling for some of the scams on the Internet.
Some of the latest ploys include Wal-Mart and calling a phone number in Spain.
One involved a job offer, and many include lotteries.
He warns everyone not to give out their back account numbers over the phone to anyone.
“If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” he counsels.
Stuff-A-Stocking program
The Salvation Army is preparing for their Christmas program again this year. Stuff-a-Stockings (24-inch red mesh stockings) will be ready for pickup on October 24 at the Salvation Army building, 610 N. William Street, Goldsboro. Any group or organization may fill them.
Each year, the Salvation Army distributes over 1,500 stockings to needy children. Please return the filled stocking to the Salvation Army no later than December 5.
