PHS volleyball season ends at Pender

24 October 2007 — The Princeton volleyball season ended Saturday with a first round loss at Pender High School.

The Lady Bulldogs scratched out a narrow 25-22 win in the first game, but Pender closed out the match with 25-12 and 25-17 wins.

Last Tuesday, the Princeton girls evened their match with Spring Creek in the second round of the Carolina Conference Tournament, taking the second game, 25-17, but the Lady Gators squeaked out wins in the next two games, 25-20, 25-22  to advance to the tourney finals.

The two losses left Princeton at 11-11 on the year.

In Saturday’s playoff loss, Ashley Braswell led Princeton with six kills, four digs, two assists and one block. Danielle Mitchell added seven digs with one assist and one ace. Amber Wood had 11 assists, two digs, one ace and one block.

Princeton Coach Trudi Rast praised Pender’s strong game at the net, but also praised how well her team dug out their hits.

“I hate to see the season come to an end. The team has worked hard this season and I am proud of all they have accomplished,” she concluded.
