Pigskin Pickin' results

24 October 2007 — The Pickin’s were slim again atop the Pigskins last week.

With State beating East Carolina, Miami beating Florida State, and Virginia beating Maryland, few were able to get all three of those right, along with Wake Forest over Army.

In fact, only Rick Grantham, the Rosewood coach, and Luby Hines of Rosewood were able to successfully pick the college games right. With virtually everyone correctly taking Rosewood and North Johnston in the high school games, that left the two Rosewood men atop the heap, sending the decision to the tie-breaker, and again there was a most narrow margin.

Mr. Grantham predicted a 24-20 score, while Mr. Hines predicted a 31-28 result. Mr. Grantham was just ten points off the actual 34-20 final score, nipping Mr. Hines for the two tickets.

Brad Van Gorden of Des Moines, Iowa and Stephen Tart of Rosewood get runner-up honors.

Among those qualifying for honorable mentions this week were: Ronnie A. Barnes, Bill Carr, John Crafter, Louise Daughtry, Carl Gurley III, Marcia McCullen, Scott Mohiser, Craig Partin, Larry Rogers, Nathaniel Sanders Jr., Denny Tart, and Lane Van Gorden.
