Sauls takes Pigskin again

7 November 2007 — For the second straight week, Dean Sauls, Wayne County Schools Athletic Director, has won the Princeton Pigskin Pickin’ Contest.

He also won the Pigskin Pickin’ Contest in the Wayne-Wilson News Leader, our sister paper, last week. He did not sweep both contests again this week, however.

In a tough week to pick ‘em, NC State and Virginia dealt a couple of stunning upsets, while Carolina posted a win over Maryland that also stumped many pickers.

Mr. Sauls joined John Crafter, Craig Partin and Stephen Tart at the top of the pickers with only one miss each, but Mr. Sauls’ 35-20 prediction was the closest to the actual 56-40 final score.

Runner-ups go out to: Ronnie A. Barnes, Louise Daughtry, Luby Hines, Valerie Howell, Steve Lee, Marcia McCullen, Russell Reynolds, Nathaniel Sanders Jr, Denny Tart and Velma Toler.

Honorable mentions go out to: Lee Brown, Bill Carr, Carl Gurley III, Scott Mohiser, Mike Peedin, Jason Rowe, Michael Strickland and Lane Van Gorden.

Mr. Sauls won two more tickets to the Tulane at ECU game on Nov. 24. We’ve got two more tickets to the game to give away this week, so you and a guest could join Dean’s entourage at Purple Paradise. All you have to do is cut out the entry in today’s News Leader and mail it in or bring it to our office, or enter online.
