Princeton, Rosewood head for playoffs

7 November 2007 — Princeton will open the state 1-A football playoffs Thursday night, just down the road in Duplin County, against a very familiar opponent. Rosewood may be playing the same time a few miles further down the road in Duplin County, but against a most unfamiliar foe.

Princeton last month played a respectable game at North Duplin, falling to the Rebels, 33-13. They will get a second chance to do something no one else could do this year: take a win off the undefeated ND squad, seeded first in the 1-A playoffs.

Rosewood finished a win better in the conference standings, but moved up to the big schools in the 1-A playoffs, and they drew the 2nd seed in the East, James Kenan. The Tigers are also undefeated in eleven contests this year.

Coach Bobby Britt called Kenan the best team they have seen all year after watching films Sunday night.

Duplin County is out of school on Friday, and North Duplin and James Kenan asked that the first round games be moved to Thursday at 7 p.m. Princeton has already agreed, but Rosewood has an open house set for Thursday, and did not agree to the earlier day.
