Rosewood loses to James Kenan in playoffs, 43-6

14 November 2007 — Rosewood’s two-game win streak to close the regular season came to an abrupt halt at James Kenan Friday night. The Tigers served notice early and often in their 43-6 win in the first round of the 1-A big school playoffs.

Kenan’s dominant offense that had earned them a second seed in the playoffs set the tone early on their first drive as they had a 65-yard run for their first score.

They put up two more touchdowns in the next seven minutes of the game as their running game continued to dominate.

Two more touchdowns in the second quarter, the last one in the final seconds, gave the Tigers a 33-0 commanding lead going into halftime.

Sean Cornman had trouble getting things going against the Tiger defense all night long. He finally connected with Stephen McIntyre in the fourth quarter on a ten yard pass, which the senior receiver broke free on to cover the final twenty yards for the only Rosewood score.

The penetration by the Tiger defense was fatal as they forced five Eagle turnovers on the night.

It marked the fourth year that Rosewood has lost in the first round of the state playoffs.

It also marked the final game for seniors Cornman, McIntyre, and Marcus Daniels, Taylor Allen, Chris Hare, Bryan Jones, Josh Holmes, Byron Cavenaugh, David Templeton, Jesse Barnett, Eric Jones, Steven Ash, Trevor Morris, Joseph Person, Brandon Dean, Tyler Muntz, Andre Everette, Holt Rains and Cameron Lowe.
