Dawgs taken on Wildcats

19 December 2007 — The Princeton boys had some tough times in Sampson County this week, but pulled out two tough road wins.

Tuesday the Bulldogs went down to Hobbton and struggled for most of the game against the Wildcats. Hobbton did a good job against Princeton playmaker Ryan Daughtry as the Princeton senior missed his first eight shots of the game and was saddled with foul trouble. Daughtry caught fire in the second half. He hit a shot with 15 seconds left to give Princeton a late lead, after Princeton had trailed most of the game.

Josh Barefoot led Princeton with 19 points, and Daughtry had 15, including 12 in the fourth quarter as Princeton pulled out the 53-49 win.

Daughtry again had a key play Wednesday, blocking a shot at the buzzer to preserve a 52-50 win.

Christopher Hinton had 14 points, including 12 in the second half as the Dawgs rallied from seven points down in the fourth quarter. Daughtry led PHS with 22 points. Barefoot added nine, and Will Gainey, six.

Princeton (8-1) has only one game this week, at South Johnston Thursday.
