JCC honors faculty, staff

09 January 2008 — Johnston Community College honored 44 employees for their years of service during the College’s annual Christmas luncheon held Dec. 13 in the lobby of the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium. The honored employees each received gifts of appreciation.

The following retirees were recognized: Karen Price of Smithfield with 30 years of service at JCC; Les Stone of Smithfield with 29 years of service; Jerry Rose of Princeton with 12 years of service; and Sue Canaday of Four Oaks with seven years of service.

Debbie Bobbitt of Selma, Don Stephenson of Clayton, and Jim Sumerel of Four Oaks celebrated 25 years of service at JCC. Susan Adams of Garner, Chris Chappell of Clayton, Hope Dale of Four Oaks, Sherrill Dale of Four Oaks, Randy Hopper of Goldsboro, and Dale O’Neill of Four Oaks were honored for 20 years of service. Sherwood Williams of Four Oaks was honored for 15 years of service. Art Andrews of Smithfield, John Byrd of Smithfield, Dee Dee Daughtry of Smithfield, David Jones of Four Oaks, Gloria Kutscheid of Lillington, Sandy Millard of Clayton, Judy Miller of Smithfield, Cliff Mitchell of Selma, Aris Pennington of Raleigh, Priscilla Prevette of Clayton, Jane Robbins of Raleigh, Martha Saunders of Benson, Donna Shumate of Selma, and Kelly Williams of Kenly were recognized for 10 years of service. Elizabeth Baker of Smithfield, Derek Brown of Selma, Scott Creech of Four Oaks, Dewana Hartley of Clayton, LaShay House of Selma, Christina Irvine of Smithfield, Ann Jackson of Dunn, Tamara LaMassa of Wendell, Dawnna Lewis of Princeton, Andy Penny of Dunn, Joel Spears of Pikeville, Marty Stanley of Smithfield, Michael Starling of Princeton, Jeanne Whisnant of Smithfield, and Paula Williams of Smithfield were honored for five years of service.

The College also presented the 2007 Earl and Doris Helms Excellence in Teaching Award to Erin Speer Smith of Wendell and named Jeanne Whisnant of Smithfield the 2007 Rudolph A. Howell and Son Outstanding Staff Person of the Year.
