Eagle girls show improvement

09 January 2008 — The Rosewood girls showed some signs of improvement last week with a strong win at Rocky Mount Prep last Wednesday.

Friday they got a nasty lesson as Wayne Country Day seized a comeback win at Rosewood, 37-27.

Friday’s loss was particularly disappointing as they had beaten the Lady Chargers at their place before Christmas, and seemed to be cruising to another win at the start of the fourth quarter when the “wheels seemingly came off.”

Two of Rosewood’s top scorers were riding the pine with foul troubles in the quarter as WCD went on a 20-4 run to erase the Rosewood lead they had enjoyed virtually the whole game.

Shantal Johnson led Rosewood with eight points.

At Rocky Mount, Hailie Meadows and Mary Jo Moore led the Lady Eagles in the 45-32 win with nine and seven points respectively.

The Lady Eagles host a non-conference match Wednesday, as Parrott Academy comes to the Nest, and Friday they travel to Ayden-Grifton in the start of conference play.
