Pick the Hoops results

23 January 2008 — The News Leader Pick the Hoops Contest came down to the tie-breaker in a hard to pick weekend.

The Wolfpack upset of Miami, ECU’s loss to a gaining respect UCF program, and the Princeton girls’ new found confident play gave our pickers fits.

No one was able to successfully pick all eight games, or pick seven right. Three pickers, Mike Peedin, Ken Langston, and Will Murphy, all of Princeton, got six right, throwing the contest to the tie-breaker. Mr. Murphy went for Clemson to upset Duke, eliminating him. Mr. Peedin’s prediction of a 82-74 final score beat out Mr. Langston’s prediction of a lower scoring final, 75-68. The actual final was 93-77.

Mr. Peedin won four tickets to Saturday’s Tulane at ECU game.

Runner-up honors go to Stephen Faulkner, Lewis Craig Partin, Bret Robinson, and Nathaniel Sanders Jr.

Honorable mentions this week go to Richard A. Mooring and Melanie Thomas.

This week we’ve got two tickets to a big ACC match-up for the winner: Wake Forest at NC State on Sunday, Feb. 3 at Noon. You can’t win if you don’t enter, so cut out the entry in today’s News Leader or enter online, but be sure and get your entry in by 5 p.m. on Friday. Also, only one entry per physical address, please.
