23 January 2008 — Earlier this season when going over his team, Princeton Girls Basketball Coach David Anderson said there was one player who he wanted on the floor as much as possible: Brittany Baker.

The junior showed why her coach has so much confidence in her, putting up 14 points in the fourth quarter as Princeton pulled away for a 54-46 win at North Duplin Friday night.
The guard was firing it up from beyond the three-point arc and slashing to the basket at other times as she had an amazing 40 points, a career high, in the win. She also hit nine of 12 from the free throw line, including seven of eight in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Rebels played Princeton tough, as the two teams were tied at the end of the first quarter and at the half, and the Lady Bulldogs clung to a narrow 37-34 lead going into the final eight minutes. Then Baker took over.
Junior Amber Wood was also part of the second half surge, hitting a three pointer on her way to a nine-point night, all coming in the second half.

Ashley Braswell was a force on the boards, grabbing ten rebounds before fouling out in the final period. Ashley Huffman had seven rebounds.
The win was Princeton’s second in league play, and third straight for the Lady Dawgs. PHS is 7-9 in all games.
Princeton traveled to North Johnston Tuesday. Friday they host Ayden-Grifton. As with the boys teams, those three schools have all begun conference play with two wins. Next Tuesday, the PHS girls take on neighboring Rosewood.
