Pick the Hoops results

30 January 2008 — Last week’s Pick the Hoops Contest was anything but a confidence builder as correct picks were about as scarce as hen’s teeth.

Normally the high school games are somewhat predictable, but no one correctly picked all four games, and many missed three of the four. Mix in NC State surprising Florida State and Miami knocking off Clemson and it was plain and simple a tough week to pick ‘em.

Emerging through the schedule with just two misses was Lanell Brown of Eureka. She missed Clemson’s loss and the Rosewood girls’ win. She won two tickets to Sunday’s Wake Forest at NCSU game.

Runner-up honors, no shallow honor this week, go to Brent Gurganious and Valerie Howell.

Honorable mentions go to Louise Daughtry, Craig Partin, and Trip Purcell.

This week we are offering four tickets to the Rice at ECU game on Wednesday, February 6 at 7 p.m. They could be yours, but only if you enter. Cut out the entry blank in today’s News Leader, bring it by our office or mail it in by 5 p.m. Friday, or enter online before 5 Friday. And pray.
