PENNY BOYETTE MCFATTER
Penny Boyette McFatter, 77, of Goldsboro, died Saturday, February 2 at Woodard's Care.
Penny was born in Johnston County on May 2, 1930, to the late Matthew G. Boyette and Edna Daughtry Boyette. She was married to the late Walter Avery McFatter. Penny was a long-time member of Oak Heights Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and served the church as secretary for 42 years. She was currently a member of Rosewood Worship Center.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 4 at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Horace Johnson and Lynn Epps officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, February 5 at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Penny is survived by her daughters, Pamela Kay James and husband, Charles, of Dudley and Debra Lee Donald and husband, Ron, of Goldsboro; her sister, Emma Jean Adams of Chocowinity; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ila Mae Ferrell and her brothers, Willie Boyette and Milton Boyette.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Rosewood Worship Center, 2103 O'Berry Center Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will receive friends Monday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Pam and Charles James, 118 Lafayette Drive, Dudley.
GARY W. WARD
Gary Wayne Ward, 33, of Princeton, died Saturday, February 2.
Born in Wayne County on September 9, 1974, he was the son of Jerry Earl Ward and Rose Godwin Grimes. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 5 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Gary is survived by his mother and stepfather, Rose and John Grimes of Pikeville; and his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Teresa Ward, his niece, Brooke Marie Ward, and his nephew, Tyler Reese Tilghman, all of Princeton.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to The NC Spinal Cord Association, 3701 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh NC 27609.
The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service. Friends are welcome at the home of Rose and John Grimes in Pikeville.

RAYMOND G. HOWELL
Raymond G. Howell, 96, of Durham, died Monday, January 28 at Hospice at the Meadowlands in Hillsborough.
He was born in Wayne County on August 21, 1911 to the late Edward and Vara Howell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Gurley Howell in 1979 and second wife, Wilma Motley Howell, in 2003. Also preceding him in death were four stepdaughters and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara H. DeBank and husband, Douglas, Jean H. Reese and husband, Donald, all of Durham; a brother, John Howell and wife, Frances, of Goldsboro; three grandsons, Kyle DeBank and Derek DeBank, both of Raleigh; Kevin Barbee and one great-granddaughter, Tiffany, both of Hillsborough. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Raymond graduated from Rosewood High School in Wayne County and Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill. He was the owner and operator of Howell Electric Company in Durham. In 1957 he was appointed Chief Electrical Inspector for the City of Durham and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1976.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by funeral services in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.

DORIS BRYANT JOYNER
Doris Bryant Joyner, 73, of Goldsboro, died Monday, January 28 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
She will be eulogized at noon Saturday, February 2, at St. James Church of Christ, 603 Spruce St., Goldsboro. Pastor Vennie Harrington will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Wayne Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Joyner of the home; daughter, Eleanor Joyner Harding of Goldsboro; sisters, Carol Bryant of Princeton, Inez Boney of Rose Hill; granddaughter, LaKissa Allen of Goldsboro; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Friday, February 1 with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries, Goldsboro.
JOHN V. WELLONS
John Vernon Wellons, 77, of Smithfield, a retired Allstate agent, died Wednesday morning, January 30, at his home.
Born September 8, 1930 in Johnston County, he was the son of Wiley H. and Maude Hollowell Wellons and was the widower of Margie Levee Hatcher Wellons, who died November 13, 1991. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sidney Albert Wellons, Kenneth Ray Wellons and Charles Delano Wellons. A graduate of Princeton High School, he married Margie at the courthouse in San Francisco on May 22, 1952 while stationed with the Navy. He was also a US navy veteran of the Korean War, where he served on the USS Hancock as a radio operator. He was currently a member and two times Commander of the Pine Level American Legion, the Pine Level VFW and the 40 and 8. He was a retired Allstate agent.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 2 at 11 a.m. in the Stevens Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Clayton officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Thompson Family Cemetery near his home.
Surviving are his son, John V. Wellons, Jr. and wife Joy of New Hill, grandchildren, Vickie Knott and husband Jeremy of New Hill, John V. Wellons, III and wife Jan of Holly Springs and Amy Mott and husband Brandon of Oahu, HI and four great grandchildren, Amber Knott, Garrett Knott, Elizabeth Wellons and Emma Mott.
The family will receive friends from 7–9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
