30 January 2008 — The up-and-coming Princeton girls basketball team took a detour last week.

After a 2-0 start in conference play and clearly playing good basketball, the top two girls teams in the conference, Ayden-Grifton and North Johnston, put Princeton in their place with wins over the young Lady Bulldogs.
Lady Bulldogs Coach David Anderson had set up North Johnston as a target for his players and they didn’t disappoint with a determined effort before succumbing 47-41.

The Princeton girls were within two in the final minute, but NJ hit enough free throws and got a key turnover to beat the Lady Dawgs back.
Brittany Baker led Princeton with 12 points, while Tiffine Battle had ten.
Friday, he was disappointed, as Ayden-Grifton’s Teairra Johnson was a dominating player who seemed to intimidate his team. The Lady Chargers pulled away in a 61-38 win.

“If we had played half as intently as we did against North Johnston…” Coach Anderson said Friday night.
Battle tried to rally the team, hitting for eight points in the third quarter, but A-G pulled away in the final frame.
Battle ended the night with 12 points to lead Princeton. Tylan George had seven rebounds and Ashley Braswell had six rebounds to lead the Lady Dawgs on the boards.

The two losses evened Princeton’s conference mark at 2-2, and left them at 8-10 on the year.
Princeton traveled to Rosewood last night (Tuesday). Friday they travel to Spring Creek, and Tuesday host North Duplin.
