Bulldog wrestlers slammed at Rocky Mount

30 January 2008 — The Princeton wrestling team suffered a loss at Rocky Mount High School last Wednesday, 48-30.

The winners for Princeton were : Daniel Walker at 103 by pin in 1:35; Josh Best (145) by pin in 3:20; Zack Stevens (160) by pin in 3:12; Josh Williford (215) by pin in 3:26; and Matt Stewart (285) by forfeit.

The loss left Princeton at 10-14 for the year.

Coach Terry Braswell said he was hoping the team would have done better this year, but injuries have hurt them.

He pointed to fine and somewhat unexpectedly good performances by Josh Best this season in building an 18-7 mark, Daniel Walker with a 12-5 record, and Josh Williford, who dropped down from heavyweight to 215 and has a 20-5 record.

He added that Zack Stevens has had the fine year that everyone expected.

Thursday the Bulldogs travel to North Johnston for a match, and will be in the conference tournament this weekend at Rosewood.
