Eagle wrestlers downed by North Johnston

30 January 2008 — The Rosewood wrestlers suffered a two-point loss to North Johnston on Wednesday night.

Coach Bill Edmundson said the fault was a combination of bad practices over the last week and a strong effort from North Johnston.

“We’ve been plagued with injuries and a 50-degree wrestling room this week,” he said, “and those situations are not very conducive to positive results.”

North Johnston’s persistence gave them the advantage, he said, and the Panthers earned the win 39-37.

The Eagles had wins in only four of the 10 contested matches. Ariel Nacca (119), JD Baker (125), Joshua Holmes (145), and Andrew Sass (160) all had wins. Tyler Dean (130), Trevor Morris (215), and Olivia Neal (103) won by forfeit.

The Eagles will host Greene Central Thursday night, and will honor their seniors that evening. The Eagles will also host the Carolina/Albemarle Individual Conference Tournament on Saturday at 10 a.m.
