Rosewood offense falls to Ayden-Grifton

6 February 2008 — Rosewood’s newly found offense, which has led to two straight conference wins, ran into the conference leader Friday night. The Eagles, who had fallen to Ayden-Grifton by 21 earlier in the season, were within six in the fourth quarter before falling, 62-51.

Stephen McIntyre again fueled a Rosewood late surge as his rebound and score got the Eagles within striking distance midway through the final frame. The Chargers denied the home fans any more excitement, though, hitting key free throws down the stretch as A-G pulled away.

The Eagles were a force down low Friday, and Holt Rains was making the Chargers pay, hitting for 18 points on the night to lead the Eagles. He also had nine rebounds. McIntyre added 17 points.

Ayden-Grifton opened up double digit leads several times during the game only to see the newly confident Eagles battle back.

Last night the Rosewood boys (6-10, 2-3 in conference) traveled to North Johnston. Friday they go to Spring Creek. Next Tuesday they host North Duplin.
