Lady Bulldogs up, down at end of season
13 February 2008 — The Princeton girls, who have been up and down this year, find themselves atop the second tier of teams in the Carolina Conference after another up and down week.

The Lady Bulldogs rallied in front of the home fans against North Duplin last Tuesday to pull out a 44-39 win. Friday night they took on league-leading NJ and after a struggling start, PHS finished with a respectable 54-39 loss.
Last Tuesday the offensive struggles were there against the Lady Rebels as Princeton fell behind, 27-21 at the end of three quarters.

Amber Wood put the fire to the lumber down the stretch, hitting for three treys in the final half of the fourth quarter. Senior Brittany Baker hit four straight free throws in the final 18 seconds to help preserve the win.
Wood ended the game with 20 points including another three-pointer to lead all scorers. Baker and Rebecca Harlan had six apiece.

Friday night the Lady Panther defense helped shut down the Princeton offense as NJ took it to the PHS girls in front of the Princeton fans, 14-2 at the end of the first quarter.
Princeton Coach David Anderson said his team looked lost at times in the early going, but got things together after that.

Wood, Tiffine Battle and Ashley Huffman each had eight in the Princeton loss.
The split leaves Princeton at 4-4 heading into the final week of the regular season. That puts them in third place in the Carolina 1-A Conference, two games up on North Duplin. If the regular season had ended last weekend, Princeton girls would host Rosewood in the first round of the conference tournament. That first round is set to start next Monday, and after Friday’s games, Princeton is still likely to host either Roseweood or Spring Creek.

In the meantime, Princeton was to make a trip to Ayden-Grifton Tuesday, and Friday they host Rosewood in their traditional league ending grudge match. If they needed some more emotions for Rosewood, there will likely be some additional stakes.
Princeton is 9-13 in all games.
