Pick the Hoops results

20 February 2008 — Last week’s tough Pick the Hoops contest came down to a couple of Jordans, and this time Michael didn’t come out the winner.

Sherrell Jordan and Michael Jordan, both of Goldsboro, successfully negotiated the games with only two misses. Tom Hietpas and Dennis Overbee also matched the two Jordans with six of eight correct, but they both went for NC State on the tie-breaker game, as well as picking Duke, which everyone missed.

Michael got the rest of the college games right, but missed on the Rosewood girls’s loss to Prnceton, while Sherrell only missed on Georgia Tech’s loss to Miami.

On the tie-breaker, Sherrell’s 88 to 75 prediction beat out Michael’s 88-82 prediction, slightly closer to the actual 71-64 score.

She won two tickets to tonight’s (Wednesday’s) UNC at NC State match-up.

Runner-up honors go to: Jeff Brooks, LaJeannea Hietpas, Ken Langston, Sherrie Jordan, Bret Robinson, and Tammy Walker.

Honorable mentions go to: Lanell Brown, Lee Brown, Louise Daughtry, Steve Edwards, Linda S. Kier, Wayne Leary, Richard A. Mooring, Candace Norris, and Nathaniel L. Sanders Jr.

This final week of the Pick the Hoops Contest offers four tickets to the ECU season finale against the University of Houston on Saturday, March 1 at 7 p.m. They could be yours, but you have to enter to win. Cut out the entry in today’s News Leader and fill it out and drop it off by 5 p.m. Friday at our office, or mail it by 5 p.m. Friday, or enter online.

We hope you have enjoyed the contest.
