Senior Games start soon

20 February 2008 — Registration for the Twenty-first Annual Johnston County Senior Games is being held through March 7. Over thirty athletic and art events will be held April 7-18 throughout Johnston County. The Senior Games are open to anyone living in Johnston County who is age 55 or over. The Games promote fun, fitness, and fellowship.

Athletic events include basketball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, cycling, bowling, bocce, golf, billiards, croquet, spin casting, swimming, tennis, and track and field. Arts events include heritage, literary, visual, and performing. Registration fee to participate in a variety of events is $10, which includes a t-shirt.

A clinic to learn rules will be held February 28 at 1 p.m. in Benson. Registration forms are available at area parks and recreation offices, senior centers, Council on Aging, and HealthQuest. For more information, contact Larry Bailey at 553-5777 or Lisa Smith at 894-5117.
