Rosewood car crash claims two

27 February 2008 — A 2007 Rosewood High School graduate was killed early Saturday morning in a wreck on Rosewood Road.

Johnathan Peedin, 18, of Mint Court, died when the Ford SUV he was riding in went off the right side of Rosewood Road and struck a driveway culvert. The vehicle overturned several times before stopping upside down. The vehicle caught fire, and neither Peedin nor the driver escaped the vehicle.

Highway Patrol officers investigating the incident estimate the SUV was traveling at 65 mph at the time of the accident.

Grant Williams, 20, of Goldsboro, was the driver.

The two had apparently just dropped off a friend prior to the 3 a.m. crash. The friend went to the scene after the wreck. He disclosed that the three of them had been at a Goldsboro bar before the accident and that led to speculation that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
