Newest Langston

Kevin and Johanna Langston of Wendell, NC would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Khloe Anna Langston. She was born February 11, 2008 at Johnston Memorial Hospital at 5:21 a.m., weighing 8 lbs. and 3 oz. Maternal grandparents are Wayne and Gail Montgomery of Monroe, NC. Paternal grandparents are Guy and Diane Langston of Princeton.


Pleasant Hill Revival

Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 1080 Gurley Dairy Road, Pikeville, will hold its Spring Revival March 2 through March 5 at 7 p.m. each evening. Well known evangelist Brian Rogers from Greenville will bring the message each evening. There will be special music each night. Everyone is invited to attend.


Girl Scout cookies on sale

Princeton Girl Scout Troop 1484 is selling Girl Scout Cookies now through March 16. They will be at Selma Food Lion on March 1, and at Wal-Mart in Smithfield on March 14 and 15. Thank you to the many customers who have already purchased cookies. Customers can also contact Troop Leader Leigh-Ann Pearce to order cookies.


Bulldog Reverse Drawing

The 15th Annual Bulldog Reverse Drawing ticket sales have begun. The drawing will be held at the Princeton School Cafeteria on Sat., April 12 at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $50 each, with a final prize of $5,000 cash. You can purchase tickets from any booster club member or Athletic Director Al Musgrave. Proceeds to benefit Princeton Athletics.

JCC Dean's List

The following students have been named to the fall semester Dean’s List at Johnston Community College.

Princeton residents named to the list include Misty Baker, Debbie Batten, Sarah Harley, Bonita Jenkins, Felisha Lusk, Michelle Mitchell, Moyeika Moore, Angela Pond, Sandy Smith, Kara Smith, Heather Smith, Gwen Thompson, Shannan Williams, Rhonda Wise, Haylee Wood, and Joshua Woodard.

St. Patrick's barbecue

St. Patrick’s Lodge #617 in Princeton will have its annual BBQ & BBQ Chicken Supper on Saturday March 1st from 4 pm to 7 pm.  Plates are $7.00. The Lodge is located on the corner of S. Pine and 1st Streets. All proceeds will go to the Masonic Charities (Oxford Orphanage, Masonic and Eastern Star Home, & Masonic Foundation).  Feel free to eat in or take out.


Grief support group

A local lawyer will speak on estate planning at the next monthly meeting of a grief support group at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

The session runs from 6:30 till 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4. Free and open to the public, the class will be held in room 1404B of the Johnston Medical Mall, which is across the street from the hospital.

“We’ll focus on proactive estate planning prior to death as well as on education for surviving spouses about ways to cope with estate settlement following death,” said Mary Ann Bradshaw, a hospital social worker who is one of the class instructors.

Storage items recovered

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is looking for assistance with locating the owner of stolen property from a storage bin or storage facility. The Sheriff’s Office has seized a large amount of property that has possibly been taken from a storage unit in Wayne County. The property includes NASCAR items, authentic sport items and other toy like items. If you have had a break-in to a storage unit that has not been reported, please call Detective David Rose at 919-731-1541 and give him a detailed list of your stolen property.
